Hover To The Line Challenge
WHAT IS HOVER TO THE LINE?
Hover To The Line is a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) challenge from The Learning Partnership, intended for students of 12-14 years of age.
Teams of 4 to 6 students design, make and program a miniature hovercraft using supplied parts and electronics along with extra materials and parts they source or manufacture themselves. Innovation in engineering is encouraged as students must ensure their hovercraft is lightweight enough to fly.
Students will explore concepts around physical computing and the Internet of Things (IoT) as they learn to control motors and servos with a micro:bit microcontroller and develop their own wireless control system and wireless message protocols to command their hovercraft.
ABOUT THE PILOT SEASON
The first season of Hover To The Line is a pilot season. The Learning Partnership will use the pilot season to gain feedback from schools taking part to refine and improve the programme.
